First week at the MTC
Well, this is our first blog post from the MTC. It has been a wonderful week of learning and of reflection. We are taught each day by two sets of young teachers that are in their 20's and they have all been phenomenal. We both have learned so much and are excited to get on our way to St Thomas. We will finish up today (Friday) and then go visit with the couple that we are replacing. They live in Orem and have just been home for a few weeks. While we have been here at the MTC we have met some wonderful people and also been able to reconnect with some old friends. I will post the pictures from those meetings:
This is a picture of our district- we had the Steele’s, the Bates and the Deeds, all wonderful couples. Our afternoon teachers were Brother Steven and Brother Hepworth.
On Thursday evening we had dinner at the home of Jan and Tim Blackburn, friends from Crofton, Maryland . So fun to reconnect with them!
Here is a picture of my cousin, Doug Gordon and his wife Colleen . They were in the MTC at the same time as us, serving their second mission to the Philippines.
These two girls were our amazing morning teachers… Sister Berrey and Sister Benedicto. We loved them💕💕💕

We had dinner with Robyn and Sue Bowan and the Mahaffeys in Provo. So fun to visit with all of them that evening.
Basically, the week at the MTC was like a 5 day pep rally, getting us to be excited and confident that we can do this! We really got a lot out of the classes given by the young Sisters and Brothers. They were very good at what they did. We stayed with my brother Paul and his wife Denice on Saturday and got to go to dinner with Marijane and Dean that night too. Paul and Denise were such great hosts and we appreciate all they did for us that day: taking us to mail our winter clothes home, buying some great slacks that are good in there heat, giving me a pedicure and going shopping! We will miss them, and all of our family there in Utah. Our flight was at midnight out of the SLC Airport. We went to Philly and then to St. Thomas. So basically we were cold and then WARM! We will write more about the first week in St. Thomas when I can figure out how to get there pictures on here again....
