Week 28 in St. Thomas

Can you see the body floating there in the picture above?  That is Dick looking for shells.  After he snorkles, he usually does that, and he finds some great little shells.  The picture below shows a bunch of ladies doing an exercise class at the beach about 8am.  They play the music and all count together as they do various exercises under the water!  Fun to watch!  It is serious business!

I meant to post this last week.  This is a quilt that was made by one of the missionary mom's and given to our mission president and his wife.  They have all the missionarys that have served under them sign their names and the dates that they were there.  Such a treasure for them and so thoughtful of that mom! It was fun to sign it last week.  It is backed with minky, so it is so warm and cozy too!

Moving right along on our reading of the Book of Mormon as a mission.  So thankful for this book.  Every single time we read it, our belief and thankfulness for Jesus Christ is strengthened.  If you haven't read it lately, do it again, and if you have never read it, read it with an open heart and we promise it will change you.  If you need a Book, let us  know and we will get one to you.

Thursday was the day that we took Joseph to the airport to go to his homeland Ghana.  He had a long flight ahead of him:  he left on Thursday at 2pm and didn't get to Acura until Saturday morning at 4:30am.  We will miss meeting with him each week.  He had a child-like faith in God and we hope and pray that all will work out for him in Ghana.

Thursday evening we attended the closing ceremony for the Summer Bridge Program for  two of the students that we have been associated with at My Brother's Workshop.  They attended USVI for this 5 week program in preparation for college in the Fall.  They lived in the dorms and had classes in reading, writing, math and time management ect,. They both did great and we are so excited for them to start this new phase of their life!
This is us with their mom, she is a lovely person & a great mom! (Honestly don't mind my hair, this humidity is killing me and at this point I just put it up  all day so that I look like a drowned rat.  I try to do better with it on Sundays!)

Here are the three students from MBW that completed the program with the Director of Education:  Suzanne- who is fabulous.   Wonderful people!

We attempted a craft with the residents of ES on Thursday.  It was quite hilarious because we were having them scrunch up little squares of tisue paper and glue them onto a template of a flower.   We had a patriotic theme going.....what we didn't account for were  the fans and so the little scraps of tissue paper were flying everywhere.....BUT, we did it and it was a success!  Whew!

Our weeks seem to be in somewhat of a routine with a few extra things thrown in each week.  This week we picked up some applications for jobs for a brother, helped someone pack up to move off island, brought books to a rest home, and to ES Facility, brought a planter for herbs to a friend that loves plants and really just try to serve as best we can here on this island.  We are thankful for the opportunity to serve and pray daily for opportunities to do so.

This is one of my favorite quotes ever!

Hope you all have a great week.  Thanks so much for your prayers, texts, Marco Polos and for being our family & friends.  Stay strong and steadfast!
Love,
Dick and Donna
