Week 37 In St. Thomas
We arrived home from Tortola on Monday about noon and went immediately to the grocery store to stock up because they had closed schools expecting a tropicl storm. The stores were packed with people getting food, water and batteries. We are pretty well prepared thanks in a large part from our predecessors that went through both Irma and Maria. They stocked our apartment with a generator, batteries, food, solar powered flashlights.....you name it, they got us ready! So thankful for them.
I ran across this quote this week as I was studying Galatians. I absolutey want to remember this....I have had too many experiences where I just happened to be at the right place at the right time or that someone else has been there for me at the right place at the right time. I don't think it is a coincidence at all. God is in the details of our lives.

This is a picture of the waterfront of Charlotte Amalie the night that the Tropcial Storm Karen came through. We didn't get that much rain, just a lot of wind, but the water is because of the storm surge. So glad we were not down in that area on Tuesday night!
This was our English Class on Wednesday night. We enjoy teaching English to these wonderful people. They really are a great
group. In the group, there are six from the Dominican Repubic and one from Haiti.
And look who arrived on Saturday afternoon to spend a week with us? Yup....Grant and Olivia, Briggs, Eliza and Gordon. They are our first official family visitors! When President and Sister Smart were talking to us about serving here, they stressed that it was fine for family and friends to come and visit. He asked us early on if anyone had come yet and we told him no, that the Larsons had come, but they already planned on it before we had our call.....he said, "well a lot of people will say that will come, but they won't." But they will! And we are so happy to have them here!
That's the week in a nutshell. Hope you all had a good week too. Stay strong and steadfast!
Love,
Dick and Donna
