Week 43 in St. Thomas

Well, the week started out with a great Pickle Ball tournament with the Elders and the Olsons.  So two teams would play a game to 8 and then the winners would stay in and the losers would sit out.  We had a great time and I am happy to report that the Elders won 3 of the 8 games!  Shout out to Margo for being a great sport!  It was her first time, and now if I can just convince them to put a Pickle Ball Court in their yard, it will have been even a better success!!!!
After Pickle Ball, we car ferried over to St. John and went to Hawk's Nest Beach.  One of our favorite beaches there. It was such a beautiful day there.....

You can't tell, but that is Margo and I out there in the beautiful water.  I am sad that we didn't take more pictures!

A bit windy!

Took them to Mountain Top on Tuesday after District Meeting and then took them to a lesson with us.
On Wednesday we ferried over to Water Island.  We had never been there before either.  It is a beautiful little island.  We rented a golf cart and explored the island, had fish tacos at Heidi's and spent some time at Honeymoon Bay.  It was a good day.

Elder Niederhauser and Elder Sigcha teach our Spanish speakers.

Wednesday night we had English Class.  Margo and Jeff helped our students practice English. These students in the picture speak Haitian Creole.   It was a good night there for sure!

The Olson's brought us a few crafts to do with the residents of Eldra Schulterbrandt.  So this is the one we did with them on Thursday.  After that we went to lunch and to a teaching appointment and ended the day watching the sunset from Brewers Bay.
Guess who is floating out there on their noodles?
Isn't that just beautiful?

On Friday morning (last day) we got up at 6am and headed to Magen's Bay.  Look at the beautiful rainbow that we got to see during sunrise that day?

After Magen's Bay we got cleaned up and served lunch at the Salvation Army.  Then we went to lunch (of course) and then toured
Fort Christian and then it was time to take them to the airport.  Such a great week, with great friends.  Margo described the week as a "reality show". We told them that to get the full picture they really needed to stay a month! ( Or 18!)

Saturday we got word that Elder Niederhauser was going to be transferred back to Puerto Rico.  That was not a surprise because the Elders usually are just here for 2 or 3 transfers.  We got some good pictures of the Elders with friends and members of the Branch.  We are going to miss Elder Niederhauser!
Prince and Vicky

Bekka and AJ Griffin

Bruce and Wilma and Gina

The Pickett and Andersons and Jaden and Kyle

We both gave talks today in church and then I taught Relief Society and Dick handled Primary becasue our teacher for Relief Society and the Primary President was sick too.  There is a nasty flu bug going around here!

After church, we went to see Alma.  She is a long-time friend and loves the Elders:

Even got a picture of Kenny!

Sunday evening, we had the Elders and the Perry's over for dinner.   It is amazing how fast we get attached to these Elders.  They become like our own grandkids!  We wish Elder Niederhauser good luck in his new area.

Well that is about it for this week.  Back to our "reality show" again now.  We don't have any visitors coming until December 31st and that is when Mike and Denae and their family come.  We are so excited to see them!  We love you all and are thankful for this opportunity to do a little part in gathering Israel in these islands of the sea.  Stay strong and steadfast!
Love,
Dick and Donna
