Week 2 in St. Kitts
On Monday evening we had a sweet call from a former missionary: Elder Shah ....with the news that he is engaged! It was fun talking to him and meeting his fiancé Chloe. We are so happy for him...
One of the unique things about St. Kitts is the lack of traffic lights. There are a few in downtown Bassetere but mostly there are ROUND-ABOUTS! So these signs are posted at each round about.....GIVE WAY because the cars in the round about have the right-away.
This is a picture of a fairly typical house here. We had a teaching appointment with Esther in this little home. It was just so very plain and humble but after talking to her it was very evident that she has a great love and understanding of Jesus Christ. These little moments are really the best experiences on the mission. Feeling the spirit testify of truth no matter where you are is just something so real.
Loved seeing this picture of Tayleigh with her brother's baseball equipment on....and the one below of Eliza holding a pet pig of a friend. Apparently , a pig is a really good pet. Who knew???

Oh, the many roles of senior missionaries......dog sitting for a wonderful family in our branch for a few days. Lua!

Every day since we have left St. Thomas, I have been getting a little thought from a special friend there......I especially loved this one.

This is our friend Sophrona that sends the sweet thoughts each day. She has had such a hard life and was pretty hard to make friends with but we persisted and loved her and at the end of our time there, I think she genuinally looked forward to our visits.

One thing about the Caribbean, they are not afraid of color. I love all the bright colored homes. Speaking of color, on Sunday we were trying to find the home of a friend that we were going to teach and she told us that her house was orange and green. We drove around and around and looked for her house. Finally she came out and flagged us down....thankfully! So here is the house....now tell me if you think that was orange???

Elder Sigcha got transferred back to Puerto Rico from St. Thomas this weekend. We loved working with this humble and hard-working Elder so much. He really was insprational and we feel so blessed to know him.

Elder Sigcha with Alma and her two great grand children. (hard to get a smile out of Alma!)

Sunday we had a wonderful church service. In Relief Society, the teacher had us all go around and tell what the Book of Mormon meant to us. As I sat there and listened to all these wonderful sisters talk about their experiences reading the Book of Mormon I was just overwhelmed with the power that it has had literally all over the world. It was a sweet sweet experience.
Later that night we had Tonisha and LaTrell and their little one and Elizabeth over for dinner. We told them that they are young enough to be our grandkids....so for us it was great to get to know them better and we hope it was fun for them too. Elizabeth is going to Vet school here....she is definitely an achiever! LaTrell and Tonisha have been married 2 years and are just a wonderful family. Enjoyed the evening so much!
Well, that is the week in a nutshell. Thank you all for your support and prayers. We love you and appreciate you all. Stay strong and steadfast.
Love,
The Garrisons
