Week 9 in St. Kitts
The thing that set this week apart from others is that we had some friends come to visit. With the Corono virus all ablaze, we are glad that they made it! It has been great having Suzanne and Jeff Wilding come for a visit! I will post some pictures of what we did while they were here. This is one of the things about doing a senior mission that is great: you can have friends come, and take a little time off to enjoy them! The other thing that set this week apart was the the very next day after they arrived our mission president called us and said that they are sending us home next Friday. WE WERE AND STILL ARE SHOCKED! So it is like they are our parents picking us up from our mission. The reason that they are sending us home is because of the coronavirus situation and the medical situation here on this island isn't great and since we only have 2 1/2 months left, they just decided to call it short. We have such MIXED emotions. On the one hand we can't wait to see our kids and grandkids of course, but we didn't feel like our mission was complete yet.....since we have thought all along it would end it JUNE. But the timing is in the Lord's hands and we know we have done our best. We have LOVED serving the people in these tiny islands of the sea and have seen so many blessings come because of it.
Someone from St. Thomas actually sent this picture to me. I thought it might give a few of you an idea for a new hair style!!! So creative right???

This is Marc and Catalina. I met Marc here when he did my hair at the hair salon right across the street from us. He asked me for a Book of Mormon and we have been teaching him ever since. Catalina is a member in our Branch. She is orginally from Chile, but her family has lived in Brazil and Costa Rica too, so she speaks English, Spanish and Portuguese. She is waiting to hear where she will go to college in the fall. She has applied to Harvard, Stanford, MIT, Brown, Yale and who knows where else! All we know is that she is one incredible girl and she is so helpful when we teach Marc. She just has such a solid knowledge of the gospel and expresses herself so well. We are so thankful for her help!

This is Kevina.

The kids here are just the cutest! This is Stu.....
Sunday we went by and visited a few of our friends that we are going to miss on the island. There are more and we will try to get around to as many as we can, but we hope that the people here in St. Kitts know how much we have loved our few weeks here. We had so many more plans for our time here. We wish these wonderful people nothing but the best and hope that we can come back and visit someday.
We had such a great experience on Sunday having church at home with our friends. The spirit was so strong as Jeff gave a talk about enduring to the end and I led the Come Follow Me discussion on Jacob 1-4. It was an experience that we will never forget. When the prophet said that church would now be home-centered and church-supported, I don't think we understood how literally this would come to pass. It was a sacred experience that we will forever treasure. We are so blessed to have the gospel in our lives.
That's the week for us. We hope that you are all staying healthy and that the day of prayer that we are having today will be felt in your homes and throughout the world. We know that prayers are answered and are so thankful for that. Next week we will be in Cali......still hard for us to believe. Stay strong and steadfast.
