Week 6 in St. Kitts

Week six in St. Kitts started off pretty good with a nice walk around the golf course at about 6:15am. When we left, it was cloudy but by the time we had walked for about 40 minutes, it started pouring rain as it often does, and we got soaked!

One of our favorite things about being on a mission is the wonderful people that we meet and the stories that they have to tell about how they came into contact with the missionaries and if they are members, how their conversion came about.  We love to hear these stories.  This week we met Judith and Sean  for the first time.  Their names has been on the list of people that we should meet and teach, but we just had a hard time getting with them, but we finally did.  What a wonderful couple they are and their affliation with the nmissionaries goes back YEARS.....like 20 years!  They have yet to be baptized.....someday!

This is one of my favorite scriptures in the Book of Mormon.  So thankful to have the Book Of Mormon as another testament of Jesus Christ.

These are the Elders that serve on the smaller islands:  Antiguia, Dominica, St. Thomas, St. Croix and Tortola.  Right now serving are: Elders Fineanganofo, Moore, Smith, Moran, Hallows, Moreno, Stovell, Flores, Sanders and  Walker.   These Elders are all so special.  It isn't easy to serve on the smaller islands, they miss out on all the zone conferences and leadership conferences so it is somewhat isolating.  But they serve with enthusiam and dedication and we have been blessed to be able to know them through our Google Hang-out district meetings.  Love them.


One of the things about St. Kitts that I find very interesting are the license plates on the cars.  They are very simple and easy to read*nothing fancy at all! So the private cars are all black and white and start with a P for private. They number them up to 9999 and then start with PA and do the same and then start with PB.  The rental cars are red and white and the first letter is R and they do the same for them.  The Taxi are yellow and white and start with a T and the government cars start with a G and the numbering is the same.  I find it so logical and easy.  Reminds me of something they might do in Japan.......

Friday night we had the Persaud  Family over for dinner.  What a delightful family they are.  They are from Guyana but have been here in St. Kitts for over 10 years.  It was great to spend the evening with them and get to know them better.  I made chicken enchiladas, and they had never had anything like that....except tacos, but they liked them just fine!  Whew!

We are back to walking and feeding our friend Lua this week!  We have become quite attached to this little doggie.  

Denae sent us this letter that Ty wrote to us in October-that never was mailed.   This made our day!

We had this darling family over for dinner on Sunday evening:  The Wengerts.  They have been here for two years now, so they know a lot about the island and were full of information about it.  Dallin is going to school to be a vet and Amy is a photographer.  Their little boys are full of vim and vigor and it made us miss our grandkids but glad we have families here like theirs that can take their place for the time being.  

This is Esther.  We teach her on Tuesdays.  I love how the people here get dressed up for church.  She really looked so cute today!

That is our week.....we are in a pretty good routine now and are meeting new people every day.  We pray that we will be able to be instruments in the Lord's hands and do what He would want us to do while we serve here on this beautiful part of His vineyard.  Meanwhile, thanks for your prayers and support.  Stay strong and steadfast.
