Last Days in St. Kitts

Image
I am kind of sad writing this last post for this incredible 15 months that we have been blessed to experience.  I have so many thoughts flying around in my brain that is it really so hard to express how I feel.  I know one thing:  I am sad that we didn't have a chance to go to church in St. Kitts for one last Sunday but on the other hand, having church at our apartment with just two other friends was an experience that I will not soon forget.  I am also sad that when we get home that we won't be having church so that we can say hello to everyone there and that we won't be able to mingle with our family or friends for at least 14 days.   Things are just so different than I thought they would be.   On Friday when we flew home, we were in 5 different airports.  THAT made me extremely nervous but I just had to trust that all this is happening for a reason.  I know that the Lord knows better than me.  EXAMPLE:  When Grant and Olivia to...

Week 9 in St. Kitts

The thing that set this week apart from others is that we had some friends come to visit.  With the Corono virus all ablaze, we are glad that they made it!  It has been great having Suzanne and Jeff Wilding come for a visit!  I will post some pictures of what we did while they were here.  This is one of the things about doing a senior mission that is great:  you can have friends come, and take a little time off to enjoy them!  The other thing that set this week apart was the the very next day after they arrived our mission president called us and said that they are sending us home next Friday.  WE WERE AND STILL ARE SHOCKED! So it is like they are our parents picking us up from our mission.  The reason that they are sending us home is because of the coronavirus situation and the medical situation here on this island isn't great  and since we only have 2 1/2 months left, they just decided to call it short.  We have such MIXED emoti...

Is that not the most beautiful sunset???? We visited a wonderful family last week and talked about the Family Memories App with them.  When we were done I told them I wanted to take their picture but they wanted to wait until Sunday, so I got this adorable picture of them: Don't you love the colorful prints?   Cutest kids ever on this island! A random picture of us FaceTiming with Joye on Sunday evening.  Always a good time! On the first Tuesday of each month we attend Branch Council. This is a meeting where all the leaders of the branch get together and discuss the needs and the direction of the Branch.  This week, one of the leaders asked the question "how has the Come Follow Me program benefited you or your family?"  (The Come Follow Me  p rogram is the curriculum that the church is using to teach Sunday school.  It is broken down by the month and by the week and so all over the church we all study the same thing. )  As ...

Week 7 In St. Kitts

I really cannot believe it is March already!  I didn't take too many pictures this week for some reason, but it was a good week of little spurts of joy along the way....... Monday evening we had a lesson with a friend that I met while getting my hair done last week.  He is from India and came here with a group of people from Mumbai to work at a salon that happens to be directly across from our apartment!   I told him about why were were here while he was doing my hair and told him about the Book of Mormon .  So when I was leaving he asked if he could get "the book."  I said of course you can....and so we are teaching him now.  He grew up as a Christian.  We had one of our members, Catalina, come  to the lesson.  When I asked the question to her: "what does Christ mean to you?"  She said that He was her friend......I just loved that simple response.  I think FRIEND is one of my favorite words for Christ. We teach a little fa...
